RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION PROGRAM

SUBMIT YOUR RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION PROGRAM FOR OTHERS TO USE & LEARN FROM

The Firemen’s Association of the State of Pennsylvania has been awarded a SAFER Grant to enhance Recruitment and Retention efforts throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Two key components of this initiative are

  • ‐  Development of a recruitment and retention website to share resources
  • ‐  Training programs in key areas of recruitment and retention (these will be held in the

first quarter of 2105 in 7 areas of the state – look for the announcement in January) The training programs will involve Developing Relationships within the Community; Junior Firefighter Program Development; Leadership; and Fire Corps Programs.

Also, we know a number of agencies have already developed effective public s afety announcements (radio and television, as well as posters). If you are willing to share them, we welcome them as well.

To help with this project, we are offering any Pennsylvania fire or EMS agency who has a current initiative they feel of value, that can provided as a link or download to the website, that we would be happy to post that item on the links section or as a key component (as appropriate). To do so, you only need to send the item as noted below as either a file or a link. In your email, you MUST indicate approval of the organization to post the item.

This is a great opportunity to share successful program elements with your peers throughout the state. The website should be “up and running” at the first of the year, so look for announcements on this as well as the training.

The purpose of this initiative is to help increase the overall volunteer support system to Pennsylvania’s Fire and EMS system. Your assistance is a key part of the potential success of this effort.

Please email your item to the project director Bill Jenaway at: wjenaway@vfis.com

The submission can be either a file or a link. A note must be provided in the email that your organization approves the use of the item on the FASP R&R website.

    Thanks in advance!!
